for you i bleed myself dry.

Okay, so Chris Martin...world renowned poet, singer/songwriter, and possibly one of the most talented person and least fearful of being different in the music industry. (Okay, I know they're heavily influenced by U2, but I'm a big fan of Bono's work, and there is a BIG difference between Coldplay and U2...they're very different.) Tonight Jon and I came across a website that we really died laughing over...a bit tongue in cheek sacreligious, but funny nevertheless. The fact that I know they aren't serious about most of the jokes, just poking fun at reality, is what makes it hilarious. http://www.thechurchofchrismartin.com
But I've said all along that Coldplay's lyrics are very Jesus oriented. No joke. Someday, if I have the time, I'll do a full out explication of Coldplay's Yellow...but how appropriate to be reminded of this around Easter.

Jesus says to us:

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh all the things I've done
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh all the things you do
Cause you were all yellow

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know for you i bleed myself dry
For you i bleed myself dry

Its true look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine
look at the stars look how they shine for you

If you know me, then you are probably tired of hearing about Coldplay...but sorry. Their lyrics are wrapped up in Jesus. Even if Chris didn't write with that intention, ahhem*, oh well because God's using it. And also, it reverberates JESUS CHRIST to me. Yay! So for Easter...
A very brief explication:

Jesus bleeds Himself dry for us. He writes a song for us. He longs to turn us into something beautiful. He took His turn for us, so that we don't have to. He swam/jumped across the depths of hell for us, so that we don't have to. And the stars shine to remind us of this sacrifce. How He loves us and how He longs for us to accept His love. Look at the stars. Just for you. Just for me.

My question for you:
You see the stars. You know about His sacrifice.
Jesus will never decide that He "doesn't want you there by His side", (see CP's What If). We just can't jump across or swim across on our own. It takes a perfect sacrifice. He's here to bridge that gap, but we've got to take Him up on it. So what're you gonna do?

Jesus, thank you for the stars. Thank you, more importantly for the reason for the stars...to guide us back into your arms...a symbol of your love. Thank you for the times they burn brightly in our lives. Thank you for getting us through the times when our sky seems clouded over by things that we can't control and when we can't "see the stars." May our lives be yours. Thank you for your perfect love. How you amazed Pilate, may you continue to amaze us.

oOo that's right. Thank you for taking a breath, and jumping over the side for us. Remind us today, Lord. What a GOOD FRIDAY, indeed. We celebrate your death, your resurrection, and your life. Thank you for the life that it brings to those who hope, trust, and truly believe in you and live for you alone.
Help me to be abandoned for you.
