Asterick.

Oh, this is the start of something good, Don't you agree?
--Gavin DeGraw, Follow Through

Now I really, truly believe that sometimes as Christians, we are called to sit back and soak in the "sun" of the blessings that the Lord lavishes upon us. I thought I had grasped this before...but I was completely wrong!
At the same time, however, I know that this is not a time to become spiritually stagnant in my relationship with Jesus Christ, but rather a time to rejoice and to seek His face even more! Yes, sit back and enjoy, but don't withdraw from the one who has lavished this upon you!
Even when I realize it least, my past experiences have shown me, God is working in me, through me, and is preparing my heart to see an even bigger glimpse of Him in all of His glory! My hope, my joy, my life--they are all in Him alone.

Jesus, thank you for your blessings!

On another note, I keep hearing this song, Jesus Take The Wheel by Carrie Underwood. For anyone who's ever felt similar desperation spiritually and emotionally, that is a great song to kind of think with and about.

Jesus, take the wheel of my life. I don't want to drive, because I'd get lost. Besides, you don't take the bacseat to anybody!

Those who look to the Lord are radiant, their faces are never covered with shame. Psalm 34:5

Amanda,

Thanks for your thoughful comments on my last post. I'm glad you are keeping your blog open, and I do understand about advertisers hijacking blogs, and how you want to avoid that.

I saw this in your current post:

"Jesus, take the wheel of my life. I don't want to drive, because I'd get lost. Besides, you don't take the bacseat to anybody!"

Amanda, that really is pathetic. Let me illustrate why I say that: one day you will be a Mother, I assume, and you will experience the joy os seeing your children going out into the world. Do you imagine you would be pleased or proud of your children if they were unprepared to make their own way in the world, and always relied on you to guide them?

I don't think so. People need to make their own way in the world. The Bible, I believe, often uses the "parent" metaphor to illustrate the relationship between God and his creation, Man. And it's a good one.

You should think about this, and understand that you need to take control of your life, not carry around the Bible or a plastic armband with WWJD on it to guide your way. You can find your own way, and it will be fine.

I'm keen to see if you see any sense in my comment!

Rod, hey

well.. when you think about it.. parents here on earth don't have the ability to be with their child all through life- the child grows up and eventually gets to where the parent cannot do anything else for him/her. But God can. So in that regard, He can be there for us and take our hand because we'll never really be able to live the way He wants us too

Also .. the life you're talking about is a really good life.. and i'm sure that a lot of people are fine with it.. what isn't realized however is how much more AWESOME life is with God.. so in fact.. what is happening is that a good thing is being exchanged for an awesome thing that never ceases to amaze. That's why. We simply choose awesome

Rod,
I'm interested to know if you've ever read the parable of the prodigal son that Jesus uses. Let me know.

Thanks,
Amanda
