So this week has been fun, 3 days of guard camp down, 2 to go! I have certainly learned a lot about teaching and technique and of all things, dance technique! Those of you that know me can laugh now. =) I learned that the way we were taught to Jazz Run was completely wrong and I have taken a refresher course in ballet positions (1-5th, no 3rd, thank goodness!). Mr. Gantt put weights in our flags, which makes them a heck of a lot harder to toss, but it's actually easier because they come down more quickly and smoothly. Anyway, it's been a good experience overall and I can't wait to see the work Chavis has written for the show.
I have certainly been humbled by the experience, because I don't know that much about colorguard, but they still want me to be there. By "they," I mean our band director, Mr. Horton. Anyway, how could it be any better than to be paid to learn more about what you like. Who knows. And I really love those girls so much, and of all things, I do understand their frustrations and pain.
I am still seeking God's will in all of this, because He has me here for a reason. There is a major possibility that other opportunities in this area may arise, but I need to pray so much before I make a rash decision. God knows what he wants for me, and that's all I want for myself (as selfish as that may sound, yes I want it.)
Colorguard was a huge part of my high school career and I don't know what's coming to me at this point. All I know right know is that the Lord has me here at this kind of "crossroads" for a reason, and I am committed to band camp next week after guard camp is done; daily from 1pm to 9pm. May the Lord be glorified, and as
Mr. Gantt said yesterday, "Throw your flags to Jesus," (although I'm sure I mean it differently than he did!)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye Heavenly Host
Praise Father, Son, & Holy Ghost
Amen~
