Jericho

The LORD told Joshua..."Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:8-9

God really is everywhere we go! Today I spent time reading about Joshua and how the LORD stopped the Jordan river for the 12 tribes to cross on dry land. I didn't know that God did this more than once as recorded in the Old Testament. Anyway, after they crossed the river, God told them to make a monument to denote the occasion with 12 large stones, so that future generations would remember what the LORD had done for the Isrealites under Joshua. Then they came to Jericho and the walls fell and the city was delivered into their hands after they followed the LORD's commands. God told them to burn all of the material things (no "war booty allowed!") and to kill all of the people, but someone in one of the 12 tribes disobeyed. All of his possesions were thus burned after he confessed, and he and his family were stoned to death in a valley. Wow- don't mess with God! Amazing. So, then the Lord led Joshua and the Israelites to another city...that's where I stopped today.
God is doing so many amazing things. I continue to be amazed that the LORD is referenced as a shield in the Old Testament. I am learning a whole bunch through some friends, two in particular.

So- prom is this Saturday, although it is supposed to rain.
Pray that I will be a witness for His Kingdom alone and that I would present
myself as a person that God has made a difference in. I am really looking forward
to it- it's really made up to be more than it really is, but it is fun to get gussied up
and all.

Quote of the day: "Everwhere I go, I know you're not far away - You're right here, You're
right here..." ~Jeremy Camp

Don't mess with God- obey!!!!
